The Collection Privée Cartier Paris is among Cartier's most coveted collections, launched in the aftermath of the quartz crisis as part of the brand's effort to re-establish its high end mechanical watchmaking credentials. CPCP watches are often identified by their distinctive guilloché dial featuring a central “rosette” motif and finely finished mechanical movements with Cartier's "double C" pattern. Unlike most regular production Tank Basculante models, which feature a solid reversible case back, the present watch showcases the calibre 060 MC, based on the Frédéric Piguet calibre 610 - through a sapphire display back, allowing the movement's finishing to be fully appreciated.
