In 1922 Cartier London established a jewelry workshop called English Art Works (EAW). This was followed, in 1939, by the Wright and Davies workshop which would produce watch cases exclusively for Cartier London. Prior to 1950, research suggests that Wright & Davies were making ladies’ cocktail and jewelry watches. However, from 1950, Cartier London began to sell their own range of established Cartier Paris models that were made in the Wright and Davies workshop. Presumably this new offering was carried out with the support of Cartier Paris – the latter must have assisted with the supply of Jaeger-LeCoultre/EWC movements and the maquettes for producing the iconic Parisian watch models.
